north bergen journal.

north bergen journal by five and a half.

“because of north bergen’s hilly terrain, the poles and wires form a kind of public art installation in the sky. or a flight obstacle course for birds. or just a grand mess. depending on what mood you’re in.”

a handmade journal filled with 3 shades of blank sugarcane and recycled text weight paper in cream, white and tan; a resilient spine that opens flat for writing and drawing across pages; and an envelope-style inner pocket. cover design features original photography printed in fade-proof water-resistant ink on a sturdy, textured canvas paper cover.

post.

post by studio_gorm. (thanks john.)

post is a laptop bag that will fit any laptop, it does not favor any brand or size of machine. super simple and very versatile. its form is inspired by the japanese furoshiki, which is used to wrap lunch boxes or any other variety of small objects. the outside layer is made from a fuzzy velcro while the inner layer is felted woven wool, with sticky velcro tabs in the corners. when wrapping one corner is folded in at a time, until it resembles an envelope (hence the name) only one flap needs to be opened to slide out the laptop for use.

book house.

book house in tokyo by nendo.

by using bookshelves to clad the exterior walls, this combination house and library protects the privacy of its inhabitants’ living space while inviting visitors into the surrounding library. semi-transparent FRP divides the interior and exterior spaces, allowing soft light to filter in between the bookshelves during the day, and letting the light leak out at night. light creates a connection between inside and outside.
