in january 2004, vitra launched its home collection, which includes design classics as well as re-editions and products by contemporary designers. as a company whose previous activity was primarily focused on office furnishings and business clients, vitra created the home collection with a new target group in mind: individual customers with an interest in design.
since no interior space was available for the presentation of the home collection on the vitra campus in weil am rhein, the company commissioned basel-based architects herzog & de meuron in 2006 to design the vitrahaus. thanks to its exposed location and striking appearance, it not only enhances the already outstanding ensemble of vitra architecture, but assumes the important role of marking the vitra Campus.

the melodica.
i went to a múm concert a few months ago and totally fell in love with the band. a couple members played a strange keyboard that you blow into. surprise, surprise urban outfitters now sells the melodica! odd, but kind of great.

panda in the snow.

trying to find a decent kettle.
okay, i don't do this. i typically don't rant on this blog. its not what its about and its not what i'm about so i don't. however, i'm off coffee because of some not-so-great side effects (sinus headaches say hey!) and i've been trying to find a decent tea kettle without any success. what's up with this?
in the interim, however, i found a pretty awesome tea pot and a lovely little infuser. suomi white teapot by rosenthal and tea stick infuser by flöz design. but what i really need is a kettle. somebody, please, make a pretty kettle and don't have the last name of graves.
