green.

i feel like i've had the issue of green design on my mind lately. issues have come up with this house that i'm working on in jamaica plain. the client wants to use recycled products and make the house as efficient as possible. i want to save as much of the original house as we can and not send it all to the landfill. ironically, though we seem to have the same goals in mind, we've disagreed.

and the last architecture firm that i worked at tooted its own horn as being green however consistently worked on projects more than 100 miles away. one of the flights i took i ended up buying a terra pass to help offset the carbon emissions.

it makes me wonder, what is green design? and has it simply become a buzz word and marketing ploy?
