  2. i don't have one, but one of my friends does. she bought it while living in the netherlands, and then brought it back with her when she moved to boston. i know she absolutely loves it. they are like tanks- very solid and indestructible. and yes, also heavy. she was able to choose custom colors at the time, and went for a silver and royal blue combo. it is very spiffy...

  3. not as many options or lights, but you might want to check out Kona's Africa bike 2.0 or 3.0. They even donate (1500 each year?) to Africa's bike town. Your purchase helps go towards this. I'm sure its built like a tank.

  4. I rode one a couple summers ago. Loved how high you sit, how safe you feel, and all the compliments. But in the end, the bike was just too heavy. Not fun to ride. Sorry.

  6. i have a kronan bike and a fietsfabriek (i live in the netherlands) and i must confess i like kronan better. if you are cycling somewhere flat this is the perfect choice.

  7. i have to admit, i'm a little nervous about the weight. boston is pretty flat but there are a couple hills that it'd be hard to avoid.

  8. traci, a little late to post, but. . . my husband cycles a lot, and you mentioned weight as a consideration, and apparently what the frames are made out of makes a LOT of difference. Since Kronan now makes a bike with an aluminum frame, you may want to give that one a look-at, b/c they (aluminum ones) are supposed to be significantly lighter than those made of steel (or whatever typical bikes are made out of). I imagine the quality workmanship would remain high, just the frame made from a different material. I look forward to reading later what type of bike you end up choosing. Cheers!

  10. Hey I just bought one second hand in London after my old bike got stolen and I haver to say now my legs have adjusted the extra weight of the bike I'm loving cycling again. Sitting upright and higher than most cars in east london traffic is a plus and it just cruises. Doesn't seem to be an obvious choice for bike thieves either. It's awesome.

  12. Hi there. I know this is an old post - but what did you decide on? I kind of want a Kronan, and have been researching them. I have an old Schwinn now, but I'm in love with the heavy old aesthetic of these...
