i trudged through yet another snow storm in boston (this one was even more fun with freezing rain to shake things up) to see tara donovan on sunday. her work creates organic formations with man-made materials such as plastic and styrofoam cups, straws, tape and pins. so good, so very very good. my art class went there for a field trip last month, wasn't it amazing?! Afterwards we went to the aquarium.. It was pretty sick to see the annenomes right after seeing her work ^_^
ReplyDeletegorgeous work and of reclaimed materials even better! thanks for the links and images. the hanging/floating piece is so other-wordly, surreal, macro, organic, luminescent ...quite compelling. worth the haul in the snow, i'm sure.
ReplyDeletei love her work. it's so simple and beautiful. i posted about her show at the met a few months ago.
ReplyDeleteMy husband and I tried to go to this exhibit the other day but it was super crowded. It looks like it is worth getting up early to make sure we see it
ReplyDeleteit was probably because it was the last weekend... hope you got to see it!
